The King's dry rub

Course ground Kosher or sea salt
Course ground black pepper
Garlic powder
Onion powder
Crushed red pepper (pizza pepper) - or crush up a dried habanero or two if you want to see tears in people's eyes 
MSG

Yep, that's it.  The king keeps it simple so the meat and the smoke do most of the talking.  1/4 cup salt and 1/4 cup pepper, a tablespoon or so each of the garlic and onion, crushed red pepper to taste, and a couple good dashes of the MSG.  Use liberally on pork, beef, chicken, whatever.
